Getting started

Live in Sheets in three steps

Install to first live cell in about two minutes — no scripts, no keys to wrangle.

    Install the add-on

    Add VerveSheets from the Google Workspace Marketplace — it installs to your Google account and is available in every spreadsheet you open.

  2. 02

    Connect your key

    Open Extensions ▸ VerveSheets ▸ Open VerveSheets and sign in once. The sidebar header shows your credit balance and a green Live badge when you're connected.

  3. 03

    Type =VERVE and fill cells

    Call any source by name with plain arguments, or pick one in the sidebar and click Insert. Pass a range to fill a whole column at once.

How is this different from IMPORTDATA or IMPORTXML?
IMPORT functions scrape a URL and depend on that page's structure staying exactly the same, so they break without warning and only recalculate when the file opens. =VERVE() calls 250+ curated sources with a documented schema, works in Excel too, and refreshes on a schedule you choose.
Do I need Apps Script or any code?
No. The add-on installs from the Google Workspace Marketplace and registers the =VERVE() function for you. If you can write a spreadsheet formula, you have everything you need — there's no script to paste, authorize, or maintain.
Can I fill a whole column at once?
Yes, and this is where Google Sheets has the edge. Pass a range — =VERVE("timezonelookup", A2:A9, "field", "timezone") — and every row resolves in a single call, spilling down the column. In Excel you point at one cell and drag it down instead.
Is it the same function as in Excel?
Same arguments, same sources, same Verve key. Excel namespaces its custom functions, so a call written =VERVE("goldprice") here is =VERVE.CALL("goldprice") there. Everything after the function name is identical.
Does it work on mobile?
The function keeps working in the Google Sheets mobile app for cells that already exist, so a dashboard you built on a laptop reads correctly on a phone. The sidebar, where you browse sources and connect your key, is a desktop-browser experience.
What shows on my bill?
VerveSheets runs on APIVerve, our production data engine, so invoices and card statements read APIVERVE. Each cell costs credits by source — same account, same key, same rails as Excel.
