The current exchange rate between any two currencies, in a cell. Write the pair once — =VERVE("exchangerate", "USD", "EUR", "field", "exchangeRate") — or point it at two cells holding the currency codes, and drag it down a whole table of pairs.
It's one of 250+ live sources you reach with a single =VERVE() function — served from APIVerve's production data engine, billed at 2 credits per resolved cell, and refreshed on whatever cadence you set. No API keys to wrangle, no scripts, no exports.
A real example — the input you type, and the values you can pull from it. Click any cell to see the formula behind it.
List currency pairs down two columns and fill the rate beside them — a live FX table for pricing or treasury that never needs re-pasting.
Multiply a base price column by the live rate cell to keep regional price lists in step with the market.
Compare the live rate to the rate you budgeted at, and let conditional formatting light up any pair that has drifted past your threshold.
The same function works in both apps — install once, sign in with your key, and type it into any cell.
Install from the Workspace Marketplace, then drop the formula into a cell. Autocomplete suggests the source and its fields.
=VERVE("exchangerate", "USD", "EUR", "field", "exchangeRate")Same source, same arguments, same key — in Excel on desktop, the web, or mobile. Excel namespaces it as VERVE.CALL. Drag to fill a whole column.
=VERVE.CALL("exchangerate", "USD", "EUR", "field", "exchangeRate")Tune the result by adding name=value before the field argument — in any order. Leave one out and its default applies.
Optional past date (YYYY-MM-DD) to use that day's closing rates instead of live rates. History runs from 1999-01-04 for about 30 major currencies and covers every supported currency from March 2024. A day with no rates, such as a weekend or holiday, uses the last close before it.
=VERVE("exchangerate", "USD", "EUR", "date", "2025-06-02")Add a field name as the last argument to land just that value in the cell.
=VERVE("exchangerate", "USD", "EUR", "field", "exchangeRate")=VERVE("exchangerate", "USD", "EUR", "field", "inverseRate")=VERVE("exchangerate", "USD", "EUR", "field", "lastUpdated")=VERVE("exchangerate", "USD", "EUR", "field", "currency1")=VERVE("exchangerate", "USD", "EUR", "field", "currency2")Premium marks data included on paid plans. On the Free plan a marked field is withheld and a marked input is ignored — either way the cell reads #PREMIUM(name) instead of a value, so a gated answer can never be mistaken for a real one.
